Contractor Parking & Staging

Contractor Policy:

All contractors performing work on the university campus are required to obtain proper parking credentials through the Parking & Transportation Services office. If a contractor would like to request access to a specific lot and/or space within a given lot, they must coordinate with their LSU Project Manager or point of contact, and Parking & Transportation Services. All contractor vehicles on campus must be registered with Parking & Transportation Services and must provide an up-to-date vehicle make, model, color, and license plate number. Contractors with a valid parking pass must request access to a specific lot. Contractors will be granted access only to their approved lot. 

 

General Requirements 

  • All contractors performing work on the LSU campus are required to obtain proper parking credentials through the Parking & Transportation Services office.
  • Vehicle information (make, model, color, license plate) must be registered and kept up to date.
  • To Request permits a completion of the Contractor Parking Request Form (add hyperlink) is required.  

Lot Access 

  • Access to specific lots or spaces must be coordinated with the LSU Project Manager or point of contact and Parking & Transportation Services.
  • Contractors will only be granted access to the lot(s) that have been approved for. 

High-Demand Areas 

  • Parking in C reserved lots or B Central areas is granted only on an as-needed basis.
  • These areas are prioritized for LSU staff and faculty; convenience alone does not justify access. 

Permit Types & Assignments 

  • C-Plan Permits: Assigned to contractors needing access to reserved lots; charged at C-Plan rates.
  • B-Plan Permits: For personnel needing access to central street parking (not reserved lots); charged at B-Plan rates.
  • A-Plan Permits: For personnel not requiring campus access; assigned to surrounding lots and charged at A-Plan rates. 

Facility Planning & Commission Projects (FP&C) 


If your project falls under the Facility Planning and Commission category, proper documentation is required. Failure to provide proper documentation will result in longer request fulfillment times. 

Delivery Only Access 

  • All delivery-only access requests must be approved by LSU PTS.  
  • Intended solely for the purpose of making deliveries and do not authorize parking on campus for ongoing projects or extended stays.
  • For deliveries within the core of campus, a gate access card is required. Gate cards must be paid for and picked up in person at the PTS Office.  
  • Please allow up to 48 hours for processing and approval.

Gate Access Devices 

  • Gate Device are required to access restricted areas within the core of campus. The devices are priced at $30 (deposit) each.  
  • Gate Device must be paid for and picked up in person at the PTS Office.  
  • Please note that a valid virtual permit is required in order to obtain gate card access.
  • Must be returned when the parking permit expires.
  • A $30 deposit will be refunded to the LSU account upon return.
  • Refunds can be picked up at the LSU Bursar’s Office in Thomas Boyd Hall. 

Payments Information 

  • All parking access and gate devices must be paid for by a supervisor in the Parking Office.
  • Accepted payment methods: credit card, check, or money order.
  • Payment must be provided prior to access being granted. 
    Payment will not be accepted over the phone. 

Submission Guidelines 

  • All required information must be complete and accurate. 
    Incomplete or missing information may delay or result in denial of the request.
  • Please allow a minimum of 48 hours for your request to be processed.

Staging areas are designated exclusively for the placement of materials,  dumpsters, equipment, and other operational items necessary for   construction or maintenance activities. These areas are not intended for  the parking of personnel  vehicles.

Parking within a staging area may be permitted only with prior approval from LSU Parking & Transportation Services. If approved, the following conditions apply: 

  • Each vehicle must obtain a virtual parking permit and a gate device.
  • The cost for each vehicle permit is $50.
  • Unauthorized parking within staging areas is subject to citations, booting, and/or towing.
  • Parking outside of the designated staging area may result in citations, booting, or towing.

  • Accepted payment methods: credit card, check, or money order.
  • Payment must be received in full prior to the setting up of the staging area and before parking access is granted. No exceptions will be made.  
  • Payment will NOT be accepted over the phone. 

Gate Access Devices 

  • Gate Device are required to access restricted areas within the core of campus. The devices are priced at $30 (deposit) each.
  • Gate Device must be paid for and picked up in person at the PTS Office.
  • Please note that a valid virtual permit is required in order to obtain gate card access.
  • The Gate Device must be returned when the parking permit expires.
  • A $30 deposit will be refunded to the LSU account upon return.
  • Refunds can be picked up at the LSU Bursar’s Office in Thomas Boyd Hall. Please allow 14 business days for this to be processed.
