Would you like to learn about plants?
We offer guided tours for LSU undergraduate classes, K-12 schools, and the general public.
Please, see the requirements below and fill out the information.
... everything about an herbarium
- what is an herbarium?
- what does a scientific collection look like?
- who works here and what do they do?
Also, you will learn about the amazing specimens it houses and the latest research it supports!
When, who, and how many?
In order that we best accommodate your group, please let us know when you are interested in visiting, the nature of your group, and any special needs or interests. Note that large groups may need to be divided into separate tour times.
For example, some of tours have focused on fungi, economically-important plants, or paper-making plants!
Please, contact the Collections Manager with these specification to arrange a tour.
It takes from 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the number of groups and their interest.
Tours take place in our facilities.
For potential activities outside of the herbarium, please contact the Collections Manager.
You will see our facilities, a selection of our collections that might include carnivorous plants, poisonous plants, our state flower, invasive plants, and more! Tours are led by our scientific staff and trained students.
Ask the Collection Manager if you happen to have a special interest!
Unfortunately, not. Scientific collections are reserved for our staff and visiting scientists.
