I am a Professor of Kinesiology whose research focuses on childhood obesity prevention,
health behaviors, and social determinants of health. My collaborative research has
received more than $5 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH),
United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Louisiana Department of Health (LDH),
Louisiana Board of Regents, and other agencies. Findings from these research projects
have been disseminated through numerous peer-reviewed journals (90+ publications)
and national and international conferences (150+ presentations). I currently serve
as a standing member on two national and international scientific review panels evaluating
research grant proposals. My leadership experience includes serving as Director of
CHSE Faculty Affairs, Interim Director of the Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education,
Acting Director and Interim Associate Director of the School of Kinesiology, Director
of the Pedagogical Kinesiology Lab, and guest or associate editor for multiple academic
journals. Outside of academia, I am a physical activity enthusiast who enjoys a wide
range of health-enhancing activities, including strength training, running, cycling,
tennis, golf, and pickleball.
