Membership privileges

  • SSS Counselor (small caseload of students)
    • Provides intensive and intentional advising and counseling
    • Provides academic advising
    • Reviews CATS, Degree Audits and other LSU requirements with you.
    • Assists you in creating your success plan for LSU
    • Assists you with course selection
    • Serves as your “go to” person for questions and referrals
    • Personal development counseling
  • Free individualized tutoring
  • Computer Lab facilities and access to free printing
  • SSS student only study areas and community space
  • Cultural group activities
  • Leadership development opportunities

First-year experience for incoming students

  • RSG Bootcamp (Pre semester program to jumpstart the LSU SSS experience)
  • SSS 1001 – Student Success Strategies course taught by Sharae Vicknair
    • Based on teachings of Skip Downing textbook “On Course: Strategies for Creating Success in College and in Life”
    • Designed to help students be successful in college and life by teaching strategies for creating greater academic, professional, and personal success, focusing on “non-cognitive” variables.
    • Covers basic study skills
    • Provides necessary skills and resources for navigating LSU
  • Peer Mentors
  • SSS Counselors who provide an intensive first year programming
