Mini-Grants
Mini-Grant Guidelines and Application Procedure
Louisiana State University Superfund Research Program (LSU-SRP) supports interdisciplinary training and educational opportunities of the postdoctoral and graduate students and invites proposals for mini-grants. The mini-grants will be used specifically for breaking ground in new interdisciplinary areas of research important for furthering the aims and goals of the participants in the program.
Eligibility:
Postdoctoral and graduate students enrolled in the LSU-SRP program are eligible to apply for SRP mini-grants.
Funding:
Mini grant support will be provided for new avenues of study that hybridize the talents and challenge the intellect and creativity of SRP trainees. It is anticipated that 3-4 mini-grants will be funded this year at the $4,000 - $5,000 level.
Mini-grants may include, but are not limited to:
- support for research, using instrumentation or methods not currently available at LSU/LSUHSC;
- data collection and analysis for an existing project or for a new project; and
- access to supplies required to make specialized measurements.
Grant monies are offered through reimbursement of expenses and must be accompanied by the documentation of expenditures.
Application procedure and proposal review:
Applicants should submit a short application (single space, 1” margins, Arial 12, 2 pages, inclusive of figures and references) to the training core leader, Dr. Tammy Dugas. The applications must include the following information: background information, a brief research plan, research mentor and institution, dates of travel, and a detailed budget.
A selection committee composed of members of the LSU-SRP team will review each proposal. The major criteria for evaluation will be the degree to which the proposed work will substantially augment the research capabilities/knowledge of the applicant.
Application deadline:
The application deadline for 2018 is March 15, 2018.
