Pathway to Physical Therapy School

  1. Select any major at LSU
  2. Take the necessary pre-requisite courses for your desired physical therapy school (ex: LSU Health New Orleans, LSU Health Shreveport)
  3. Maintain a high GPA, especially in science-related coursework (3.0 minimum, 3.5+ recommended)
  4. Prep for and take the GRE (296 score minimum)
  5. Earn a minimum of 60 hours of direct patient contact under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist
  6. Earn a bachelor's degree

Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.)

  • 4 years of undergraduate coursework (bachelor's degree)
  • 4 years of physical therapy school
